ToBePolo Artisans and Hobbyists
Know who teaches you before you book
ToBePolo checks the identity document of the person who teaches: the blue badge means the check has been done. It is not a judgement on quality.

Artisan or Hobbyist: what changes
- ToBePolo Artisan
Teaches with a VAT number: whoever books is covered by consumer law. Can offer crafts and experiences at any risk level.
- ToBePolo Hobbyist
Teaches occasionally, without a VAT number: the contract is between private individuals. Low-risk activities only, up to €5,000 in earnings or 50 activities a year.
What we check, and what we do not
“Verified” on ToBePolo means something precise. We would rather say it than let everyone imagine their own version.
Checked
We check it ourselves.
Identity document
The teacher uploads it and we approve it. Until it is approved, the profile, crafts and experiences stay hidden.
Signed contract
The teacher signs the membership contract online when signing up, with tax code and address.
Every listing reviewed
We read every craft and every experience before it goes live, and we can ask for corrections.
VAT number
We check it: automatically against the European VIES register when it is listed there, otherwise by hand.
After these checks the profile appears here, with the blue badge next to the photo.
Asked for, not checked
We ask the teacher for it, but we do not verify it ourselves.
Payment details
We ask for the IBAN, date of birth and tax details at the first confirmed booking. The account holder’s identity and the bank details are verified by Stripe, not by us.
Third-party liability insurance
The Terms require it from whoever offers a medium or high risk craft or experience. We do not check its validity or cover.
Not checked
We do not look at it and do not judge it.
How it is run, the place, the tools
We do not judge how crafts and experiences are carried out, and we do not organise them. Running them safely remains the responsibility of whoever offers them.
Quality
The badge is not a judgement on quality: for that there are the reviews.
We say this because a badge that promises more than it delivers is worse than no badge at all.
Something does not add up?
Report it
Open the teacher’s card on this page and tap “Report this profile”. Or write to info@tobepolo.com with the page and the reason. We examine every report within 24 hours. If there is immediate danger, call 112 first.
What we do
If a craft or experience turns out to be classified inconsistently, or whoever offers it lacks the stated requirements, we do not reclassify it ourselves: we suspend the listing and ask for it to be corrected or completed, explaining why. It goes back online once everything is in order.
