Safety

Three risk levels: what we ask of those offering crafts and experiences and what we check.

ToBePolo connects people who teach a craft with people who want to learn it. Crafts and experiences are organised and run by the teacher, who is responsible for them. We decide who can offer what, write it down in clear rules and check that they are followed.

Teachers

Organises and runs crafts and experiences under their own responsibility: safety, quality, venue, tools, compliance with the law and with what the listing says.

ToBePolo

Runs the platform: listings, bookings, payments, personal data. We are responsible for that. We do not organise or run the crafts and experiences, and we are not a party to the contract between you and the teacher.

Participants

Arrive on time, follow the teacher’s instructions, mention any special needs in advance and keep all communication inside ToBePolo.

The indemnity: who is responsible for what

Anyone who publishes a craft or experience on ToBePolo accepts the Terms for professionals. There the teacher undertakes to indemnify and hold ToBePolo harmless from any claim, complaint, penalty, cost or damage arising from:

  • the craft or experience carried out and any harm to people or property while it takes place;
  • breaches of the Terms or of the law by the teacher;
  • content published by the teacher;
  • disputes between the teacher and participants or third parties.

The indemnity does not cover what depends on us: how the platform works, bookings and payments, personal data. If something goes wrong through ToBePolo’s fault, we are responsible.

And no clause takes away the rights the law does not allow to be excluded: liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for personal injury and consumer protections all remain.

What we check, and what we don’t

We check

  • that the risk level is declared and that its requirements are met;
  • the teacher’s identity and, for medium and high risk, the VAT number and the insurance policy details;
  • every listing and every review before it goes public.

We do not check

  • whether a policy is adequate, valid or sufficient;
  • how the teacher runs the craft or experience, nor the venue or the tools;
  • safety standards beyond those written in the Policy.

If a craft or experience is wrongly classified or its requirements are missing, we do not reclassify it ourselves: we suspend the listing and ask for a correction.

Three risk levels

The level is declared by whoever offers the craft or experience, following written criteria. If it has features of several levels, the highest applies. What counts are the tools, the sources of danger, the setting and the physical effort, not the name of the craft.

Low risk

Hands-on, educational or demonstrative experiences. No flame, no chemical risk, no intense physical effort.

Crochet, embroidery, drawing, painting on paper, decoration, creative writing, basic photography.

Open to ToBePolo Artisans with a VAT number and to ToBePolo Hobbyists. No insurance required. The only level open to minors, if a parent books.

Medium risk

Sharp tools or work tools, moderate heat, materials that need care, light physical effort.

Wheel-thrown pottery, light woodwork, cooking with knives and hobs, machine sewing, small jewellery work, docile animals.

Only ToBePolo Artisans with a VAT number and liability insurance for harm to people and property, with the policy details declared when publishing. No minors.

High risk

Open flame, high temperatures, large blades or power tools, hazardous substances, significant physical or environmental demands.

Hot glass and metal, forging, foundry work, glassblowing, knife-making, chainsaws, climbing, water sports.

As for medium, and we may ask for further documents: certifications, suitability of premises and equipment, sector licences. No minors.

What cannot be offered

Crafts and experiences that need authorisations we cannot verify, or that expose people to risks an intermediary cannot manage, are excluded:

  • experiences with health licences or authorisations we cannot verify: serving professionally prepared food, invasive beauty treatments, health or paramedical activities;
  • experiences where tasting alcohol is the main element;
  • firearms, weapons, explosives, pyrotechnics;
  • diving, parachuting, flying, extreme sports with a high risk to life;
  • sexual content or anything else unsuitable for minors;
  • participants driving motor vehicles, on the road or on a track.

Before booking, and after

Read the format, difficulty, risk level and the teacher’s profile. If you have a special need or some information is missing, ask in the chat before booking: everything stays in writing.

Always pay through the website. Don’t share passwords, codes or card details in messages, and don’t move the arrangement outside ToBePolo: if you do, you lose the protection the platform gives you, including cancellation and refunds.

Reporting

For suspicious content or a problem with your account, a craft or an experience, write to us and tell us the page and what happened. If there is immediate danger, call the emergency services first (112).

This page summarises the Terms and Conditions (Users section, arts. 2, 8, 9, 10; Professionals section, arts. 10, 11, 12) and the Safety and Risk Policy, which is part of them. If this summary and the Terms differ, the Terms prevail.
